Christmas is always a difficult time. If you could make 3 wishes at the worst possible moment, you might not get them right.
Leo, the ten-year-old tough little boy, and his two good friends Dia and Juli are excited about Christmas. But the holiday isn't the time of magic for everyone. As Christmas Eve approaches, tensions rise, arguments become more frequent, everyone is nervous and impatient, and there's not even any snow. The Christmas carp in the tub, like the goldfish in the fairy tale, grant 3 wishes. The three good friends ask for snow as their first wish and it starts to fall unstoppably, then covers the entire apartment building up till the roof. In despair at the chaos, the three children make a wish to the goldfish that it would be better if there was no Christmas at all. So the holiday magically disappears and the adults have no idea what Christmas is about. Leo, Genius and Frida soon regret their wish, and are forced to take Christmas back into their own hands in a world where no one else has ever heard of it.
Director’s statement
The theme of Christmas is visually timeless, the traditions and formal props associated with the holiday have been handed down through many generations, so I designed a largely traditional hand-drawn-and-painted visual world for the film. The richness of the film's visuals would evolve at specific key points in the story, so that the richness of color and detail, or lack thereof, could easily lead the viewer emotionally. I wanted to use the full range of animation to create a visually novel yet classic Christmas visual. The hand drawn 2D animation, stop motion animation with experimentation-manual effects will be compsited using digital post-production.
