A cartoon rabbit who feels like a dog. A world locked in a movie. Questions about ourselves and the world.
The protagonist of this story is Karl, a bizarre-looking rabbit who is aware that he is living in an animated film. He claims to have been drawn badly, as everyone sees him as a rabbit based on his appearance, while he feels like a dog inside. We follow Karl's inner monologue as he struggles with his peculiar identity crisis. Other rabbits ostracise him for his dog-like behaviour, while dogs automatically see him as a rabbit to be chased. Adolescence, among other things, is about the development of thinking, perception of norms, and a growing understanding of moral requirements. Of course, positive self-esteem is also a key element in building a stable identity. This short film explores the larger questions of existence and identity, using technical solutions, with the animation constantly reflecting on its own creation. This effect breaks the unity of the narrative sphere, suggesting a connection and permeability between the film's space and the viewer's space.
Director’s statement
This film presents the world from a uniquely narrow perspective — through the eyes of a creature with the body of a rabbit but the soul of a dog. Our film follows the inner monologue of this unique being as it navigates an identity crisis, struggling to find meaning and belonging.
This is a story for Generation Z, where the quest for authenticity, self-expression, and freedom takes center stage. Through absurd and often witty encounters, the protagonist attempts to engage in dialogue with both their creator and fellow creatures, seeking answers to fundamental questions about their place in the world.
More than just an animated film, this project is a philosophical journey into the themes of identity, existence, and self-acceptance. While we speak directly to young adults, we believe the universal message will resonate with audiences of all ages.
