Two monster brothers, get a visit from the personification of death

Two monster brothers, a Ghost and a Vampire, get a visit from the personification of death, which starts to follow them in everything they do, preventing them from living their dead lives. This classic personification of a dark figure dressed in a black robe and wearing a scythe is a memento mori that, once accepted by the two monsters, reveals an emotional side to the world that the two had never seen before, and makes them appreciate each other beyond death.

Director’s statement
The artistic direction in which this animated project takes us is that of the Transylvanian cinematic stereotype of zombies, vampires and werewolves, used here to convey hard-to-digest ideas such as the ephemerality of life and coming to terms with the presence of death in everyday life. All this in a comic and emotionally accessible way for young people.

After 4 years of doctoral research on the topic of existential terror and the fear of death in animation, I realised that the topic of one's own ephemerality is deeply ignored, but largely responsible for the micro- and macro-conflicts of our daily lives. Thus, I find necessary to create an art form friendly to all ages, but especially to young people, that deals episodically, humorously and nostalgically with the fear of Death. The aim is to offer a resigned and slightly humorous perspective on the fear of death, and to suggest that we need time and patience for thoughts about death to settle in our minds, and for empathy to flourish.
