The Chestnut Fair
La sagra della castagna (working title)
At a chestnut fair, two sisters crack open chestnut shells that transport them into different worlds, testing and mending their bond in dreamlike landscapes.
At the local chestnut fair, two sisters, part human and part dog, buy a cone of roasted chestnuts from an old peacock lady who claims they bring luck. With each shell they crack open, they are transported into a different world—sometimes together, sometimes apart. As they travel through these surreal spaces, their relationship is tested, fractured, and mended. Roles shift fluidly as the protector becomes the protected, the strong becomes the vulnerable. They lose each other, search for each other, and confront one another, exploring the love, tension, and complexity of sisterhood. Beyond the fantastical realms, the fair remains the same. In the physical world, they simply walk side by side, sharing their cone of chestnuts.
