Little Big Ones
Little Big Ones
True stories of small voices that made a big difference
Little Big Ones is a series of short animated documentary films telling true stories of children and young people whose courage and determination made a real difference. Each episode begins in a moment of crisis, fear, anger or sadness, then enters the child’s inner world to show how difficult emotions can become the beginning of action. Through frame-by-frame animation, photographic collage and documentary materials, the series transforms real events into subjective, poetic journeys grounded in place, culture and history. Little Big Ones invites viewers to care deeply about the world around them, ask difficult questions about society and justice, and understand that their voice matters — that change does not require power, status or adulthood, but conviction.
Director’s statement
Little Big Ones is a series of 26 stories about children who have decided to stand up against adversity, the world around them, and the system. The reason we want to tell these stories is simple. They are inspiring. They are powerful. They are important. Perhaps now more than ever. We follow children from all corners of the world, diverse stories of personal courage, strength, and activism—in the fight to save nature, defend human rights, and combat drugs, discrimination, and bullying... Some possess a certain heroism, while others are more down-to-earth and seemingly ordinary. However, they are all united by one common idea, a common faithFaith in the significance of individual action. Faith - which we often lose a little with age. And that is why we want to share stories that tell about such people. About people who, despite their young age, managed to fight for their ideals, for their community, for a "better world", often at the cost of their own losses or threats.
