Director’s statement
Coco is a delightful animated series that sparks curiosity and a love for nature. When I first discovered Loes Riphagen’s book in a bookshop in Amsterdam, I was immediately captivated by its charm and visual style—an inspiration that now drives this adaptation. The series follows Coco and her forest friends as they explore nature, face small but meaningful challenges, and grow through shared adventures. Each episode gently introduces children to important themes like environmental awareness and the effects of human activity on wildlife. With rich storytelling and a distinctive cut-out animation style, Coco builds on the success of the beloved book while offering something new for families. Beyond the screen, Coco has strong potential to expand into digital platforms and interactive games, creating an immersive ecosystem that deepens the connection with young viewers and reinforces its positive messages.
