Our Green Year in Review: What Were We Up to in 2025?

CEE Animation became one of the partners of the European Green Animation Guide, and a member of the Green Animation Working Group, anchoring the presence of underrepresented territories of Central and Eastern Europe and our unique challenges of low-capacity production countries when discussing unified European sustainability standards for animation production in Europe. In the Green Animation working group led by Ecoprod, Greenfilm and CineRegio we actively take part in representing the CEE region’s needs in the animation industry on its way to universal sustainability standards. You can still join by signing the Statement for European Sustainability Standards in Animation, too!

CEE Animation appointed a dedicated Sustainability Manager, Valentína Hučková, to oversee the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy

We launched the Green Animation hub on our website, where you can read about the latest news and access a library of free resources.

We held webinars on various green topics – from the sustainability of stop motion animation back in 2023, to the present advice on how to Reduce the Environmental Impact of the Animation Industry. You can access the recorded webinars on our Vimeo channel.

In March 2025, CEE Animation Conference GO! 2025 in Nova Gorica provided a platform where diverse industry stakeholders gathered to continue discussions on sustainability in animation, the use of AI and increasing co-production potential. You can read the full report here.

We also took part in industry events focused on sustainability, such as the MIA market in Rome, where our Sustainability Manager, Valentína Hučková, represented CEE Animation on the panel “ANiMPACT: A COMMON EUROPEAN APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE ANIMATION” together with representatives of Greenfilm, Trentino Film Commission, Ecoprod, and animation producers – sharing best practices and ongoing progress on the development of the universal Green Animation standards.

We published our first CEE Animation ESMS policy, endorsed by the Board of Directors and our Sustainability Manager. We will review this policy at least once a year.

And November 2025 marked the first Green Animation Lab for animation producers in Gdansk, Poland, which we organised in cooperation with SPPA (Stowarzyszenie Producentów Polskiej Animacji) and Ecoprod. Read more about it here.

…And we have more planned for 2026! Thank you to everyone who took part in our activities, showed up and shared insights. Your engagement turns intention into action and keeps this momentum moving.
