Meet our new team member – Sustainability manager!

CEE Animation is pleased to welcome a new Green member to our team – our Sustainability Manager, Valentína Hučková. She will represent CEE Animation in the international Green Animation Working Group. CEE Animation recognises the urgency of the climate crisis and the role that the culture and animation industry play in the common goal towards minimising our negative impacts on the environment. Starting with an analysis of our current actions and impact, we aim to decrease our carbon footprint and share and learn best practices internationally.

Valentína graduated Animation and Film in the United Kingdom and has been involved in sustainable animation, film-making, and cultural production practices since the start of her studies. Her student film “Patrick in Town”, co-directed with Eszter Sándor, was awarded Special Mention in the short film category at the CEE Animation Forum in 2021, focused on the environmental utopia of the near future, where animals and humans live as equals on our planet. Besides raising climate awareness through on-screen messaging, she delved into the practical and data-based world of Green Filming, which refers to sustainable practices employed in productions of film, TV and animation during all production phases. She develops custom sustainability strategies for individual productions and studios, which help to measure and decrease the environmental footprints of their audiovisual productions.

Valentína is internationally certified and trained on the topics of sustainable production, climate literacy and planet placement in storytelling, and she applies her knowledge in film, culture and arts, working also with European animated film festivals and their networks. She is an active member of multiple international networks of sustainability professionals and she partakes in knowledge-sharing as a panelist, speaker and sustainability advisor.

The goal is progress, not immediate perfection. Every step, no matter how small, counts.
