The Ghost of The Riverbend

A Dunakanyar szelleme

Ten-year-old Cole and his friend Lily investigate a haunted house by the river. They meet a ghost boy, and by learning about his past, they bring forgiveness to the whole community on Christmas day.

Ten-year-old Cole and his family recently moved to an old mansion in a small town by the Riverbend. The locals whisper that the house is haunted, but Cole’s parents dismiss it as old wives’ tales. Cole becomes friends with his classmate, Lily. She has a peculiar hobby: she investigates the paranormal in her spare time, and she is very interested in the local “Haunted House”. With the passing of Halloween and All Saints’ Day, unexplainable events begin to multiply by the house. Cole and Lily find out the cause of these disturbances: the ghost of a boy, who becomes their friend. As the kids investigate his past and learn about his supernatural abilities, they uncover a long-forgotten tragedy that keeps the community apart to this day. Cole and Lily realise that the ghost boy can only find solace if his old friends reconcile. On Christmas day the river freezes, and this brings on events that lead to forgiveness and salvation to the ghost of the Riverbend.

Director’s statement
Since my childhood I loved Christmas, I always felt that there is something mysterious about this holiday. We stop fighting, forgive each other, and spend a few days with our families and friends. We can call this the „Spirit of Christmas”. However, sometimes old grudges won’t let us experience this wonderful feeling. They linger as ghosts in our lives. „The Ghost of the Riverbend” is at its heart a story about forgiveness and the importance of letting go. It is also a detective story, where our 10-year-old protagonists learn about the past of their community – the very community they are having trouble fitting in. And finally, it is also an entertaining cinema experience for the whole family full of adventures and paranormal awesomeness. And maybe, just maybe, it will make some people reconcile with their loved ones on this lovely holiday.
