Street Lights

Street Lights

Lyrical journey through the night city — atmospheric meditation on freedom, intimacy and maturing, carried by the silent guidance of streetlights.

In an empty, sleeping city, a lone figure walks through the night guided only by traffic and street lights. As the urban landscape slowly dissolves into fog, surreal encounters blur the boundary between perception and reality. A runaway horse, flickering lights, and a looming silence become metaphors for a quiet inner rebellion — a fight for meaning, intimacy, and personal freedom in an empty but still overwhelming city. Through strong visuals and minimal narration, this film invites the viewer into an atmospheric meditation on the quiet power of simply walking — one step at a time — through the darkness, reclaiming the night as a space for presence, courage, and quiet defiance.

Director’s statement
During the pandemic lockdown, I found myself wandering through nocturnal Prague, where the only signs of life were flickering traffic lights. These lights, no longer guiding anyone, came to me as a metaphor for personal freedom — in the empty city, it is only you who decides what will happen and what you open up to. That feeling, born in a time of isolation, has stayed with me long after the world reopened. This film reflects my need for the quiet intimacy and sense of adventure we so easily lose in adult life. Through static frames, fog, light, and minimal narrative, I want to create a sensory experience that invites the viewer to slow down, reflect, break free, and re-enter their own inner world. It's not a film about deep philosophical questions or answers — it's a film about stillness, solitude, and the beauty of simply existing, even if just for a seemingly boring night walk.
