Unhappy housewife Ružica ventures into the world to find her runaway heart, and she finds it in the most unexpected place.
Ružica, a 19th-century housewife, lives under the oppressive rule of her violent husband. After a fierce argument, her heart leaps out of her chest and escapes. Determined to find it, Ružica embarks on a surreal journey through a world where societal expectations limit women's roles. Her first encounter is with a Laundress and her Mistress, who scold her for neglecting household duties. The Mistress offers her a chance to become the perfect housewife, but Ružica refuses. As the hole in her chest grows, she seeks refuge in a church, only for the priest to accuse her of witchcraft … Following the sound of a heartbeat, she unravels an embroidered thread, revealing layers of fabric. Each layer exposes a different world: first, a conference room where men applaud traditional sayings stitched by unseen women, then a kitchen where women silently sew. Ružica tears through each layer, freeing the women and disrupting the illusion. Finally, she finds her heart and places it back in her chest.
