Little Mimo

Mimóka mesék

Animated series that aims to guide defiant toddlers with love and understanding, while highlighting the healing power of imaginative play.

Most episodes begin with a daily task (e.g., Little Mimó goes to kindergarten, Little Mimó brushes her teeth, Little Mimó goes to bed) to which Mimó, the 3-year-old girl, typically responds with the same defiant sentence: "No, no. I won't..." - After protesting stubbornly she tends to engage in fantasy play. As she begins to count angrily the many tasks and reasons why she doesn't want to listen, she immerses herself in tiny details. With the help of her imagination, and the guiding help of her surroundings she explores an inner, magical world where small creatures, plants, and animated objects accompany her, often reminding her of her parents or herself. At the end of the episodes, one of the "companions" often takes on the role of the defiant child expressing the feeling that prompts them to defy (e.g. "I miss my mom"). After this, Mimó turns to her companion (a projection of herself) with caring kindness, and returning to reality, she helps them complete the unwanted tasks.

Director’s statement
Little Mimo is a special project for us at Boddah as it's the first animation series and the first project for children. We believe that animation for such a young adience can only be done mindful of their emotional and cognitive needs, but also is a great opportunity to give kids and their parents tools and valuable time spent together that is also entertaining in the best sence.
We have been working with Luca Tóth for almost a decade now and her truly exceptional magical world had been embodied into shorts that premiered in Cannes and Berlinale. With this series we wish to further her track record with successful international co-productions and we believe the more countries involved the better to reach an audience as wide as possible.
For the easy accessibility of small children dialogue would be kept to a minimum which would also help international distribution.
