In the Workfield

În Câmpul muncii

A nearly 40-year-old Bucharest slacker struggles to keep his first steady job and win a bet with his workaholic father — without actually working. But he ends up in absurd and more-work situations.

Dante, nearly 40 and chronically unemployed, makes a reckless bet with his father during a disastrous family dinner: keep the same job for one full year, or end up trapped working in the family business forever. Determined to avoid his worst nightmare, Dante lands a job as a building superintendent’s assistant in a colorful Bucharest neighborhood full of eccentric neighbors, improvised fixes, and authentic urban kitsch — despite being completely unfit for responsibility or practical problem-solving. His desperate shortcuts and questionable logic spiral into increasingly absurd situations that always create even more work.

Director’s statement
"In Câmpul Muncii is an adult animated sitcom that uses absurd comedy to explore the contradictions of contemporary urban life in Romania. Set in a Bucharest apartment neighborhood rich in authentic local flavor, improvised aesthetics, and recognizable social archetypes, the series reflects a society increasingly fascinated by the idea of quick success. Through humor, the project transforms everyday situations, neighborhood conversations, and familiar Romanian behaviors into a satirical portrait of a generation caught between ambition, stagnation, survival, and escapism.
Our goal is to attract audiences already familiar with international adult animated comedies into this distinctly Bucharest micro-universe. The series aims to offer both entertainment and a humorous social portrait through the protagonist’s endless attempts to outsmart work — and the consequences that follow. Ultimately, the project seeks to become both a source of dialogue between different social types and genuine fun"
