Happy Epi

Happy Epi

A film about the events that happened on an ordinarily extraordinary trip – some happy, some dramatic and others thoroughly epileptic. A film about friendship and the yearning to live a “normal” life.

The short film Happy Epi is introduced by the voice of Hana – the main protagonist of both the film and the adventure upon which this animated documentary is based. Hana reflects on a journey she undertook with friends that marked her first trip abroad without her parents, with no everyday certainties and armed with nothing more than a backpack. First journeys tend to be transformative, and that’s especially true of this one. Because Hana is accompanied not only by her friends Noemi and Jirka and dog Alma, but also by her epilepsy, which she calls “the shakes”. What’s it like travelling with a handicap like that? Aren’t the risks too high? How will the group handle seizures in unfamiliar environments? Hana is eager to share her experiences. So, Noemi turns the voice recorder on and reminisces.
