Buddy is an animated series that tells a fun and educational story from the inside of the human body that is on a 24/7 mission, to maintain the best possible well-being of its human.
Oto and Mindi go on vacation together. As they spend a lot of time together, the difference between their various worldviews, priorities, and lifestyles is obvious. Oto is a teenager. He is facing changes in his body, first feelings of love, and sexual maturation. He is struggling with smartphone addiction due to scrolling and playing games. His inner world is struggling with all these feelings and changes, while Oto on the outside really enjoys the vacation. He can do what he loves most in the world - unlimited swimming, diving, and surfing. Mindi primarily came to rest from her stressful work. She will relax and replace her regular workouts with sports activities in nature. She can't wait to read a book and go for endless walks on the beach. She also wants to strengthen her relationship with Oto. Mindi is a synonym for a healthy life. But in the way of her perfectly balanced life stands her boss, demanding 100% responsiveness via email and phone even while she's on vacation.
Director’s statement
Buddy bridges our external choices with the internal world tirelessly fighting for our well-being. Through Mindi and Oto’s journey, the series pairs realistic animation with heightened humor, formatting their (our) daily and most common struggles into a compelling character-driven narrative. Fast-paced, silent external scenes contrast sharply with a dialogue-rich, satirical internal world where organs serve as grandeur metaphors for human complexity. By contrasting these biological processes, Buddy delivers an engaging, educational paradox. This unique approach transforms scientific realities into relatable comedy, inviting audiences of all ages to explore the lifelong pursuit of a high- quality, fulfilling life.
