Boris, a warehouse worker in a vast retail facility, gets lost in a maze of packages and begins to question whether there is a way out of the system that defines his life.
Boris is a professional box folder for a retail giant. The days are all the same in the huge warehouse until the docile employee gets lost in the cardboard jungle where the packages are stored. What if he found a way out of the box he has always been locked in?
Director’s statement
Coming out of the Covid lockdowns, my apartment was filled with delivery boxes, which sparked curiosity about cardboard. I discovered that over 200 million tons are produced annually, its price is an economic indicator, and reports revealed harsh conditions in global warehouse systems. A vertigo grew: cardboard shapes economies, consumption, and even shelter, while an invisible workforce sustains global distribution giants.
I imagined vast warehouse cities where humans move mechanically among endless racks. This became an allegorical tale: Boris, a professional cardboard folder, endlessly repeats his task within a rigid system.
One day, he crosses the wall of boxes and enters a parallel world: a surreal cardboard jungle inhabited by a creature made of cardboard. There, Boris finds transformation, friendship, and freedom, becoming an architect of imagined cardboard worlds.
The film reflects on determinism versus imagination and whether identity is imposed or self-created.
