Why Some Books Become Series and Others Don’t?

A book that works on the page doesn't automatically work on screen. For producers, it means balancing creative ambition, the expectations of authors and publishers, rights, financing and the realities of the international market.

Drawing on her experience as a producer, Emmanuèle will explore the key questions behind a successful adaptation. What makes a book worth adapting? How far can you go in changing the original? What needs to be found, changed or added to make a story work as animation? And how do you balance what makes the original special with the practical realities of building a project for audiences and the market?
