Masterclass: Zsuzsanna Kreif
Starting out as a director after graduation, I felt—like many others—that developing your own projects is not such a smooth and evident process anymore as it used to be in university.
It is more difficult to find the time and motivation for it, so that you are able to make a living and realize your own creative projects at the same time. Currently the Hungarian film funding system is not so open to original short films, animation series projects made for adults or feature film development, which can make you lose your enthusiasm easily. But it is always good to keep an eye out for foreign animation pitch forums and other international opportunities. Relevant to this, I will share my experience about the development attempts of Dino Doom on Desert Planet up to now. We are far from seeing the end of the road, but I will talk about the various development stages, the pitch forums, the residency I spent abroad, and the way I try to keep a balance in juggling my applied work and the world of the planet Urth.
The masterclass is organized in collaboration with Primanima World Festival of First Animations (October 5-8, 2022).
Primanima is an international festival and competition of first animations, which is held every autumn in Budaörs. Its co-founders, Anna Ida Orosz and Tamás Patrovits, launched it in 2012 with the goal to provide a platform and opportunity for young animation talents to present their very first artworks, to build professional connections and join international networks. In this regard, Primanima fills a void not only in the Hungarian, but the European festival scene too.
Activity is supported by the International Visegrad Fund.
