Petri Kemppinen is an independent film and TV consultant, working internationally with financing and development, policies and training. He founded P1 Kemppinen in early 2020, after close to 30 years of experience in journalism, publishing and the audiovisual sector.
Through P1 Kemppinen he consults on policies, evaluates content and trains professionals. Prior to establishing his own company, he worked from 2013 to 2019 as CEO of the pan-Nordic funding body Nordisk Film & TV Fond in Oslo. As an expert of financing and development he has worked for European audiovisual training organizations like EAVE, European Genre Forum, Sources and CEE Animation Workshop. He has also given lectures for the department of Film and Television at the Aalto University. He has an MA in Communication Studies from University of Helsinki, with minors in Sociology, Statistics and Development studies. His professional background is in culture journalism at Helsingin Sanomat newspaper (1988-1995) and publishing (Hard & Pet) before start of his film and television career at YLE in the mid-1990s. He served later at the Finnish Film Foundation (2005-2013), before joining Nordisk Film & TV Fond. He has been the Finnish member of Eurimages' (the pan-European film financing body of Council of Europe) Board of Management 2006-2013. His trustee positions include being a board member at the Swedish Film Institute (since 2019) and European Women´s Audiovisual Network (since 2020). He is also a member of the European Film Academy.
