Martin Pertlíček is a Czech director and animator, a graduate of the Animation and Interactive Art Studio (under Professor Jiří Barta) at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia. In his graduate films Panta rhei (2016) and Noctuelle (2019) he uses stop-motion technique to tell stories both dreamlike and very raw. As an animator, he has participated in several animated children bedtime TV series of Czech Television, and he is currently animating the plasticine heroines and heroes of the Polish-Czech-German short film Joko (directed by Izabela Plucińska). His upcoming film Demon of the Marshes is based on his long-standing inspiration/fascination with the painter and writer Josef Váchal and his strong personal connection to Šumava.
