Edmunds Jansons

Edmunds Jansons is a Latvian animation director, illustrator, educator, and founder of the animation studio Atom Art.

A graduate of the Latvian Academy of Culture and the Estonian Academy of Arts, where he studied under Priit Pärn, he also holds a professional doctorate in arts from the Art Academy of Latvia. For more than a decade, he has taught animation as an Associate Professor at the Art Academy of Latvia. Working across both auteur-driven and family-oriented animation, Jansons has directed award-winning short films, television projects, and feature films that have screened internationally for nearly two decades. His works include Little Bird’s Diary, Choir Tour, The Isle of Seals, Guard of Honour, and Freeride in C. His feature debut, Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs (2019), was presented at more than hundred international festivals. In 2026, his second feature-length animated film, “Born in the Jungle”, premieres at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Alongside filmmaking, Jansons is also an acclaimed illustrator and author of children’s books.
