Director’s statement
Our project is based on the classic novel of Karel Čapek. We believe that this topic is modern and we will update the story to be a perfect fit of 21st century and make
it suitable to today ‘s generation. Our goal is to bring
up all major issues our planet is going through right now on the background of all global
events. The film will be hybrid, highly stylized artistic vision, set in a Cubist version of Prague. This visual framework ensures a seamless integration between live-action and animated characters cutouts of actors in digital 2D animation. I want the film to be visually striking, and therefore appealing to an audience. While the film deals with
profound themes, we intend to present them through a gentle comedic lens, making them more accessible while enhancing dramatic moments. I knew from the beginning that humor is the key to this concept. The contrast of humor with serious subject matter can heighten the emotional stakes and give audiences space to reflect.
