In the vertical, foating city of Biovertika, suspended above a world thought lost, 13-year-old Sina fnds a battered drone carrying a cryptic message. Her wealthy best friend #Zu is certain it comes from her missing mother. With the underclass tinkerer Ogassi and the agile climber Kayl, the girls follow the clues down through hidden infrastructure to Earth - the world they were taught was uninhabitable. Below, they uncover the truth: Biovertika survives by draining Earth's resources, and the beautiful, sticky snow is recycled waste raining down from the city above onto a suffocating planet. Among the survivors, Sina fnds her mother, exiled for trying to expose the same secret. Together the friends climb back up to confront Biovertika's offcials with the evidence - sparking a movement that unites the city above and the world below to save them both
