Tanglebus
Tanglebus
On a packed bus, an exhausted mother tries to settle her screaming baby and appease the irritated fellow passengers.
Screaming baby. Packed bus. Nightmare for a mother. In this animated world, every voice appears as strands of wool. The more the baby screams, the more tangled threads fill the bus, quickly overwhelming the passengers and trapping them in a chaotic web of noise and frustration. Only when the passengers finally come together to sing a gentle lullaby does the chaos begin to settle. Their voices weave into a colorful woolen blanket, soothing the baby and bringing the bus ride to a peaceful end.
Director’s statement
"In Tanglebus I present a simple relatable story told in a way only animation can achieve. The film uses animated wool to represent human voices. Through this visual language, the audience can understand what the characters are saying without spoken dialogue. The wool becomes a visual metaphor that expresses the film’s themes of both discomfort and solidarity.
My motivation for making this film comes from my fascination with strangers, especially those we encounter in public spaces. I love drawing them and using them as inspiration for the characters in the film. I also see the film as a small tribute to mothers everywhere.
My goal is to create a fun and clever family film with unique visuals and a heartwarming message that both parents and children can relate to."
