Near the Water

Notka is the main character of the cartoon, she is a creative musical person, there are notes on the ends of her arms and legs. However, she works at a non-creative job in an office. She is kind, naive, often shy and lonely. When she sees that someone is in trouble, she always tries to help them. Her main essence is that she helps by creating music. Notka reconciled two quarreling lovers in a bakery through music Notka helped sailor, who lost her dog, find her by whistling a familiar melody. The main character limits the conflict of people crowding, hiding from the rain, with the help of songs. Notka receives a prediction that she will meet her love near the water. Notka meets a drummer and falls in love with him, but he is not near the water, but photographs are near the sea.

Director’s statement
The old love for simple cartoons, where black on white, where the essence comes first than the beauty of the image – all this gave birth to the idea to make a film with good content, but with such kind of simplicity. Later, Notes appeared on a whiteboard. And why the note? Because six years of work at the Kyiv Jazz Theater, 3 musicals with a jazz orchestra could not fail to influence. The main character Note is not very different from the inhabitants of her city, but she has unusual endings – notes. This is such a small feature that distinguishes a creative person visually. Through the life of the main character, there is shown the moment when routine work is diluted with creativity, how a creative person who has to work at an uninteresting job feels.
What a heroine in itself: she is a dreamer, not pretty enough, by nature she is naive as a child, but she is very diligent, like an excellent student at school, so she manages to do office work, as well as wake up early every day to get
