Markéta earned her undergraduate degree in education from the University of West Bohemia, in Pilsen, and continued studying Czech language and literature and French translation at Charles University in Prague.
After more than eight years of working closely with the Program Department of the Karlovy Vary IFF, she joined the newly created Czech Film Center in 2004. She has served as the head of the CFC since 2013 and in May 2019, she was appointed the president of the European Film Promotion. Markéta’s agenda includes communication with major international film festivals, co-production markets and sales companies. She also consults festival strategies for upcoming films and is in charge of the Czech Film Springboard industry event and the CZECH FILM revue.
