CEE Animation Workshop 2026: Module 2 in Full Swing
Earlier this year, the 8th edition of the CEE Animation Workshop kicked off with Module 1 in Lillehammer, where participants gained valuable knowledge while also having the opportunity to meet in person and network with representatives of the Norwegian animation and film industry. This week, from May 25–29, participants will embark on Module 2, which will take place entirely online.
A total of 31 participants – producers and creative teams behind 12 selected projects as well as two career-oriented participants and two animation script consultant trainees – will take part in a week-long program featuring group sessions, one-on-one consultations, and lectures by esteemed experts, all designed to provide valuable insights and knowledge that will help advance their careers and projects.
The second module shifts more towards production topics such as financing and budgeting, but also continues to fill in important topics regarding content development and the work of the creative producer, including writing for series, giving notes, and pitching.
Each day is centered around lectures and group work sessions, accompanied by 1:1 script sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, as well as 1:1 feedback sessions focused on presentation packages on Wednesday and Thursday. Feedback will be provided by renowned experts Réka Temple, Annemie Degryse, Jean-François Le Corre, and Juraj Krasnohorsky.
On Monday, participants will explore the specificities of character development across different formats in the lecture Writing for Different Formats – Characters! by Phil Parker, particularly relevant for those working on series projects.
An important practical session, How to Give and Receive Notes, led by Ben Morris, will take place on Tuesday. An experienced writer from the UK, Ben will share his perspective from both sides of the creative process, as a commissioner and creative producer.
Wednesday’s programme includes the comprehensive session How to Structure a Successful Pitch, presented by seasoned producers Juraj Krasnohorsky (Artichoke, SK; CEE Animation) and Tonje Skar Reiersen (Mikrofilm, NO).
On Thursday, participants will gain practical tools for managing production timelines and constructing budgets in the critical session How to Budget and Schedule, presented by Denis Walgenwitz, an experienced French animation line producer.
On the final day of Module 2, Friday, producers will come together for a Producers Group Work session on financing, during which they will each give a five-minute presentation on the financing system in their country and share their experiences with it.
Participants will also gain essential knowledge about implementing sustainability measures in their productions during the session Sustainability, led by Valentína Hučková (SK), a certified Green Production specialist and CEE Animation’s Sustainability Manager.
Module 2 will conclude with a wrap-up session during which the leaders and participants will summarize the week’s key learnings and outline the next steps ahead of the third module, scheduled to take place in Budapest from July 27 to August 2.
