CEE Animation Workshop 2025 Continues: Module 2 Under Way
After a successful kickoff earlier this year in Nova Gorica / Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025, the second module of the 7th CEE Animation Workshop is now well under way. Taking place online from Monday to Friday, May 26-31, Module 2 brings together 26 Workshop participants – producers and their creative teams – for a week-long adventure full of valuable insights. They are engaging in group work to advance their projects and listening to exciting new lectures from esteemed experts.
The first lecture was presented on Monday by Matīss Kaža, a Latvian producer, director and writer. Matīss shared his perspective on producing the Academy Award-winning feature “Flow” (2024), which he also co-wrote. Later that day, group leader and script consultant Phil Parker continued with the second part of his Introduction to Screenwriting, presented during the Module 1 in Gorizia.
On the second day, participants gained valuable knowledge on how to strategically plan and manage their company as a business, or career as a freelancer. The lecture Company Strategy Development was held by two dedicated UK-based experts, Caroline Williams and Bernie Cullinan.
Ulrich Michel, a leading expert in Germany for arbitration, mediation, media law and intellectual property, held a lecture on Legal Aspects of Co-Productions on Wednesday, which was followed by 1:1 Feedback Sessions on Presentation Package with renowned French producer Jean-François Le Corre (Vivement-Lundi!).
The series of Module 2 online lectures will conclude on Friday with two sessions. Juraj Krasnohorsky, a Bratislava-based film producer (Artichoke) and Head of Studies at the CEE Animation Workshop, will share valuable insights in his lecture How to Structure a Successful Pitch. Acclaimed Norwegian producer Kristine Knudsen (Knudsen Pictures, Den Siste Skilling) will follow with a session titled European Financial Landscape and Cashflow.
Seasoned producers Réka Temple (Cinemon Entertainment, Hungary) and Annemie Degryse (Lumière Group and Les Productions de Milou, France), along with experienced script consultants Phil Parker (United Kingdom) and Rita Domonyi (Hungary), are guiding this year’s participants as their group leaders, bringing their wealth of experience and expertise in animation.
The CEE Animation Workshop 2025 Module 1 took place in Gorizia, Slovenia in March 2025, and Module 2 is taking place online. Two more modules will follow; one on-site during summer in Łódź, Poland and one online, in the middle of October. After the completion of the Workshop, participants will be able to take advantage of the CEE Animation network and will be ready to present their projects at various industry and market events in the EU.
