Applications open for Animation Lab Clermont-Ferrand 2026
Animation Lab Clermont-Ferrand offers intensive training tailored to film producers who want to gain knowledge and insight into the production and distribution of animated short films. The 4-day workshop aims to provide an in-depth insight into the animation industry. It covers topics such as the development of short animation projects, production and post-production, festival strategy and distribution.
The programme consists of inspiring lectures by leading experts, group work where participants present their production plans and project ideas and receive feedback from other producers and the group leaders. It also includes individual consultations with experienced group leaders.
The workshop will be led by renowned international professionals Kristel Toldsepp (A Film, Estonia) and Brecht Van Elslande (Animal Tank, Belgium). It will be accompanied by the representatives of the CEE Animation Workshop.
In addition to enhanced skills, we offer participants accreditation to the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market, access to Euro Connection coproduction forum, and post-workshop benefits of joining the CEE Animation network of alumni with ongoing access to talks and presentations, as well as discounts to attend industry-leading events.
The Animation Lab is open to international producers from all areas of the film and audiovisual industry who are interested in producing animated films or are about to enter this sector – preferably but not exclusively with a project idea or short project in development.
It will take place from January 31 to February 3 in Clermont-Ferrand, France, during the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Short Film Market (arrival Jan. 30 / departure Feb. 3-4). There is no restriction on the country of origin of participants, up to 30% of participants from outside the EU are allowed.
The working group in the Animation Lab consists of up to 8 participants, 2 experts as team leaders, the CEE Animation production team and an external lecturer. Producers applying must fill in the form below no later than November 14, 2025.
The application requires a link to the visual approach and style of the project, if relevant.
The participation fee is EUR 250, including festival and market accreditation, tuition and lunches. Travel expenses and accommodation are not included.
The workshop will be held in English.
The workshop is prepared in collaboration between the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market and the CEE Animation Workshop and supported by Creative Europe MEDIA subprogramme.
