ANIMPACT – Call for animation producers’ feedback on the new Sustainability standards for animation
ANiMPACT is an international initiative led by CineRegio, Ecoprod and Green Film. It aims to support the animation industry in accelerating its environmental transition by establishing a coherent, credible and internationally recognised framework for sustainable production in animation. As leading organisations in the field of green production, CineRegio, Ecoprod and Green Film have joined forces to initiate a collective effort to define shared, international sustainability standards for the animation sector, and reach a certification scheme. The development of the ANiMPACT Standards is the result of a two-year collaborative effort initiated with the publication of the Green Animation Guide in 2025.
The initiative is supported by leading organisations in the audiovisual and animation sectors at both the European and international level. Over 80 organisations worldwide have expressed their support, among the most prominent which are CARTOON, Animation in Europe, CEE Animation, AnimFrance and Cartoon Italia.
The standards were built through extensive consultation with sustainability experts, animation studios and producers and representatives of public institutions and funding bodies. The expert working group on standards is composed of Valentina Hučková, Sustainability Representative at CEE Animation, Jean-Baptiste Wery, CEO of Oooolala, Pedro Citaristi, Board Member of Cartoon Italia, Davide Banini, Auditor at Bureau Veritas, and Benoît Ruiz, Consultant in environmental and social engineering for the film and video game industries and individual consultation of industry and sustainability experts.
Our Sustainability Manager Valentína Hučková, who is active as a sustainability professional in the audiovisual industry with a particular focus on Animation, said about her involvement in the expert working group:
“When trying to create universal standards uniting the animation industry across Europe and potentially worldwide, it is important to keep in mind the different base levels of support and infrastructure for animation which differ country by country. Since the idea is to publish standards, which can be fulfilled by both high and low production capacity countries, it is essential to get direct feedback from animation producers and professionals with an even geographical coverage. This feedback will be implemented into the final version of the Standards prior to their release. That is why I am calling on all CEE region animation producers to participate and share their perspectives.”
The public consultation is open from 3 March to 3 May 2026 to all stakeholders of the animation sector, in particular institutions, film funds, producers, industry associations, sustainability managers, certifying bodies and anyone who wants to give their contribution to the definition of a shared, objective and transparent standard.
Following the consultation period, the feedback collected will inform the final version of the ANiMPACT Standards, which will be presented at MIFA in Annecy. At the same time, ANiMPACT is inviting animation producers and projects to participate in a pilot programme to test responsible production practices. The initiative is aimed at productions that are currently in development or pre production and are open to integrating sustainability into their workflows. Luca Ferrario of Green Film notes that these pilot projects will be important for assessing how the standards function in practice, identifying areas that may require further development, and demonstrating how sustainable approaches can be incorporated into animation production. By working directly with selected projects, ANiMPACT seeks to move beyond a theoretical framework and support practical implementation, ensuring that the standards can be applied effectively in real production environments.
Estimated completion time is 30 minutes:
