3rd module of the CEE Animation Workshop taking place in Bratislava

The third module of the 5th edition of the CEE Animation Workshop is taking place in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 7 till 13 August 2023. The fifth generation consists of 30 international animation professionals, who will be working on their projects under the guidance of renowned international tutors in Bratislava for one week, preparing their projects to access the market.

The participants have already developed a strong bond with their group leaders; established producers Tonje Skar Reiersen (Mikrofilm, Norway) and Corinne Destombes (Folimage, France) and the script consultors Phil Parker (United Kingdom) and Rita Domonyi (Hungary). During the week they will be joined by guest experts, who will prepare insightful lectures on various animation industry topics. There will be two case studies: Katarina Kerekesova will present the the work on animated TV series and features from her Fool Moon studio and Juraj Krasnohorsky will present the animated feature film White Plastic Sky, which was co-produced by his studio Artichoke. Ulrich Michel, expert on entertainment law, will prepare a special workshop, dedicated to honing communication and negotiation skills. Besides the lectures, participants will take part in intensive group work and individual sessions. They will also receive feedback on their production packages and pitches by experienced international producers from our team.

On Wednesday, 9 August, there will be the Open industry day at the CEE Animation Workshop 2023, co-organized by Slovak Association of Animated Film Producers – APAF. The event will be dedicated to discovering animation trends and topics together and culminating in a networking dinner with our attendees and esteemed decision-makers and representatives of the Slovak film industry. Three lectures will be part of the programme; art director Adrien Merigeau will discuss The Role of the Art Designer and their experiences working with Cartoon Saloon, Zuzana Bieliková, director of the Slovak Film Commission, will have a lecture on filming in Slovakia and will finish the day of lectures with Green Filming Animation.

CEE Animation Workshop is a year-long educational program focused on project development and development of production skills for film professionals working in the field of animation. The program is led by renowned animation producers and script consultants as group leaders who closely monitor and mentor projects and their teams throughout the duration of the program.

CEE Animation Workshop in Bratislava is organized by Slovene Animated Film Association – DSAF, Slovak Association of Animated Film Producers – APAF, CEE Animation and supported by Creative Europe – MEDIA, Slovak Audiovisual Fund, Ministry of Public Administration, Republic of Slovenia, Slovenian Film Center and AIPA.
