JURASSIC TALKS

Questioni Giurassiche

A filmmaker travels back in time to shoot a documentary on dinosaurs—only to rediscover life, love, and generational wisdom through a prehistoric couple facing the end of the world.

Salvo, a struggling comedian and wannabe filmmaker, sets out to explore the meaning of happiness by interviewing his grandparents. But when every producer rejects his heartfelt documentary, he lands an unexpected shot with eccentric producer Fonzie Panzetta who, as it turns out, owns a time machine. The catch? Fonzie wants Jurassic Park, but with real dinosaurs. So Salvo and his misfit crew travel 64 million years back, where they meet Guido and Elena, a dino couple uncannily like his grandparents. As a meteor approaches, Salvo must choose: warn them, save them or let time run its course. Through their prehistoric wisdom on love and family, he realizes he's making the same film after all—just with dinosaurs. Back in the present, Salvo finishes it with something he hasn’t done in years: he takes his grandparents to the beach. Maybe the "good old days" aren't about when. They're about how we live them.

Director’s statement
This film is about memory, loss, and holding onto the people we love before they fade. I wanted to capture the essence of my grandparents not through realism, but through imagination. Using real interviews revoiced by stop-motion dinosaurs, the absurd becomes a tender lens on human truth. It’s Jurassic Park meets Casa Vianello, the typical italian couple-based comedy: an epic, but slow and domestic; surreal, yet deeply grounded. We took inspiration from "Creature Comforts" and "Marcel the Shell", where unlikely characters carry real emotional weight. In this world, dinosaurs talk about love and boredom, the end of time and what to cook for dinner. Behind the humor and chaos is a desire to preserve what matters before it’s gone. Not just with cameras, but with care. That’s all Salvo—the character—wants. That’s all I want too.
