Finding home

Finding home

When the musk ox calf Musky is taken away from home, he is forced out on a dangerous journey, teaching him about his inner strength and that home is where the heart is.

The musk ox calf Musky is trying to find his way home after he, and a heard of young musk ox has been captured by hunters and transported from Greenland to the unfamiliar and unwelcoming Norwegian mountain Dovre. The tender, and heartbroken Musky believes that his family is waiting for him in Greenland and becomes determined to find his way home. Blinded by his strong hope and belief, he sets out on a dramatic, yet magical journey. A story about finding your place in a new and unfamiliar world, when all you know, and love has been taken from you.

Director’s statement
In Finding Home I get to combine some of my greatest passions life; animation, wildlife, environmental awareness and human compassion.

It’s important for me to tell stories that trigger us to evaluate the world and how we relate to it. This is a dramatic story based on true events and reminds us, not only of human interference with nature, but pinpoint some challenges our nature and wildlife are facing today. It is also a story about the hardship we face when we lose everything, and are forced to find a new role, and a new place to call home.

To bring out the heart and nature of this film, the artwork and the music is key. Even though we explore the mix of 3D and 2D for this project, the main idea is an overall digitally painted look, to create a rough expression to complement the harsh environment our characters live in, making the animals feel real, and bring us closer to nature.

Finding Home will hit you right in the heart, and never let you forget it.
